New SFF Authors – A Spreadsheet

Shaun and Adam over at Skiffy and Fanty asked at the end of their second show,

Who are some of your favorite new science fiction writers and why? (“New” means a writer who began publishing novels in the last ten years.)

To aid in compiling such a list my first step was to figure out the universe of SFF authors that had their first work published after in or after 2000. I ran a query on ISFDB and came up with 8067 potentials. I haven’t filtered out writers that only wrote Fantasy or what have you, and the “rough work count” is just that. It’s a raw dump of the number of entries associated with the author in the database. I’ve made no effort to spot check my results. Bigger numbers should still indicate more output from the author.

I’ll way in myself before the week is out, but I wanted to share this resource ASAP.

  1. We’re waiting diligently for your filtering. That’s an enormous list and there’s just no way either of us could manage it…so the job has been left to you 😛
